Jesus, the Son

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory

and the exact representation of his being,

sustaining all things by his powerful word.”

Hebrews 1:3

Jesus was there right at the beginning of creation, involved in creating everything, designing a perfect place for us to live in. We all know what went wrong and how that has played out for us. But if not for Jesus, then there would surely be no hope for anyone. Jesus gave up his position in Heaven to become our salvation so that we may be in His presence and glory one day, forever and ever.

The writer of Hebrews states quite categorically: “After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven” Hebrews 1:3 (continued). If you are reading this and you are already walking a road with Christ, how do you explain this concept to a non-believer?

The truth is this: God’s grace is there for everyone unless a person chooses not to accept it and therefore exclude themselves from His salvation plan. This is not to say that the person can never accept Jesus as their Saviour after that, but if they die before coming to Christ, they are doomed to eternal life in hell. It is simply a foolhardy thing to deny that Jesus is the one and only Son of God and that He was there before the beginning of time, that He came to earth as a human, died a horrific death on the cross and is now seated with The Father in heaven.

The writer of the book of Hebrews was writing to this church, urging them to continue in their walk of faith, knowing with full assurance that no matter what happened to them in the physical sense, they would be with Christ one day if they persevered to the end. At that current time, this group of people had been persecuted; some had been thrown into prison, and others had had their property ransacked and public humiliation and abuse heaped upon them. The expectation was that at any moment in time, some may even be put to death.

Do we not find the same thing happening to many of Christ’s children today? Are we not expecting persecution to come in a greater manner soon? Are we not expecting Christ’s return soon? Are you ready?

I urge you to continue walking strong for Christ. I urge you to share your faith with as many people as you possibly can, for that which you do today for Him will be your crown in eternity always.

Grace and peace of Jesus Christ be with you.
